COLLINGWOOD v ST KILDA, MCG, Saturday, 2.30pm
STORYLINE: For just the third time in history the Grand Final is being replayed. And thanks to a week of James Hird, Gary Ablett and Mark Thompson, we have been ‘freshened up' for this decider. We forgot about it for a couple of days and now we get to anticipate it again. And in all likelihood, it is going to be very, very tight once again.
WHY TO WATCH: Who will stand up? Who will be this week's heroes if the game is close once more? It will be excruciating for the fans of both sides if there are just a few points in it either way, and imagine the pandemonium if we were to get to extra time? In any event, it's two grand finals in the space of a week - heaven for anyone who loves their footy.
TALKING POINTS: Lenny Hayes and Brendon Goddard were brilliant for the Saints last week. Hayes won the Norm Smith, while Goddard was equally worthy in the eyes of many. But Magpie counterparts Dane Swan and Scott Pendlebury were both a little down last week and a reason for optimism for Pie fans is that they'll be significantly better this week. And what about Collingwood's conversion? Travis Cloke missed a couple of sodas that if he missed again and the Pies lose, will surely have him on the next plane to the Gold Coast. Dale Thomas and Jarryd Blair also missed gettable shots that they'd like to have over again. Had either of kicked truly, then we probably wouldn't be having this replay.
WE THINK: Another agonisingly close match is in store. If Nick Riewoldt cuts loose then the Saints should get there, but overall, there's a bit more upside to the Pies. There are plenty of Collingwood players who can lift and their dominance of the inside 50s last week - 62 to 35 - suggests they can manufacture enough of a winning score. But we had a corker last week and we hope and expect the same this week.
