Bet of the Day - July 6th

I have been watching tennis a long time and there have been many dominant players - especially in the modern era - but nobody has impressed me more than the Wimbledon winners this past week.

Rafa's topspin and Serena's serve, coupled with their ultra-competiveness, demoralised the opposition.

Now, the 'holy grail' of tennis, the Grand Slam, is within their reach so watch out!

The World Cup soccer quarter-finals concluded over the weekend. Two favourites and two underdogs qualified and The Shark tipped the sweep! Ker-ching, ker-ching, ker-ching.

No team has been more impressive than Germany who are always highly disciplined and organised but how clinical have their goals been on the counter-attack?

Australian coach Pim Verbeek was roundly criticized for his game plan against the Germans but, in hindsight, attacking them was fraught with danger.

Closer to home, round 14 of the AFL wrapped up with no real surprises.

Hawthorn and Richmond were both winners (as underdogs) but they are on fire - the Hawks with seven in a row (after a 1-6 start to the year) and the Tigers four out of five (after 0-9 start).

And guess what? They are both underdogs again this week. So let's not look a gift horse in the mouth!

The Hawks and Cats (who are severely undermanned) have been in very tight contests the last four times they've met. There's been nothing in it.

And the Tigers will have the Dome rocking against a flat Dockers team missing playmaker Michael Barlow with his broken leg.

$25 on Hawthorn to bt Geelong at $3.00

$25 on Richmond to bt Fremantle at $2.50
