Bet of the Day - September 7th

Andy Murray is tracking the career stats of one Mark Philippoussis who finished up with two runner-up finishes in grand slams (where Murray currently stands!)

They both remind me of racehorses who seem to flash home, promise a lot, but never win! Never mind that they are always under the odds because of potential!

They are a punter's nightmare!

Give me a 'Better Loosen Up' or 'Makybe Diva' or the tennis equivalent - 'King Rafa' - who KNOW how to find the finishing line because they have the heart of a lion.

Speaking of which, is there a football team with a bigger heart than the Sydney Swans?

We took the Blues at +15.5pts on Sunday and got the chocolates, but what a pulsating finish the Swans gave their home fans when they were down and out.

Who can forget that prelim final a few years ago when they were done and dusted at three-quarter time against St Kilda?

Captain Kirk rallied the troops and they overran the Saints much to everyone's surprise.

Back-to-back grand finals this decade (for one flag) with a team that, to my reckoning, was more mid-table than top four.

Can coach Paul Roos pull one last rabbit out of the hat this week vs the banged-up Western Bulldogs?

Yes they can ..... BUT they will be under the odds.

And, as I pointed out last week, travelling interstate teams are no better than a 30% chance in finals (take note: another of our winners was Fremantle at home to Hawthorn!)

At the current odds on offer, we've just got to shut our eyes and bet against the Swans.

$50 Western Bulldogs to beat Sydney Swans at $1.85
