Bet of the Day - February 7th

Well I'm glad the NFL is over!

The Super Bowl was nerve-wracking. In no other sport do you get such swings in betting during games. All it takes is one turnover or, in the case of the Super Bowl, one dropped catch and the tide of the game turns!

Late in the last quarter in Indianapolis, Patriots QB Tom Brady hit his receiver who dropped an absolute 'lolly'.

The Giants then got the ball and QB Eli Manning threw a long bomb which was spectularly caught near the sideline .... and that was that!

Once again, the pickings are slim this week so it looks like we gotta bet on the Wednesday one-dayer between India and Sri Lanka at the WACA.

As pointed out last week, India can't win anything at the moment, except perhaps the odd T20 by the skin of their teeth.

The Sri Lankans have been in a bit of turmoil themselves, sacking Geoff Marsh as coach and appointing Graham Ford this week. This ODI will be his first international match in charge.

On top of that, Sri Lanka's warm-up game against the Prime Minister's XI in Canberra was rained out last week.

Still, they've come from a tour of South Africa so will be match-hardened and accustomed to harder, bouncier pitches.

And, as I've said before, while India are so low on morale and spirit, we will continue to bet against them ....

(The match will be shown live on Wed on Ch 9 HD.)

$50 on Sri Lanka to defeat India in 1st ODI at $2.30
