What a day!
After a delayed start, then some sluggish and defiant batting, particularly from Katich and Clarke, Australia collapses to be just 9/229 at stumps on a shortened day. It's probably more than enough, although a lot will depend on whether the Australian swing bowlers can exploit the conditions.
The draw blew out to $4.50 and has settled at around at $3.50. With the first innings almost over, it's probably reasonable to lay at these prices, as any further batting collapses (and you can be sure they will happen) will cause a further blow out. Australia has gone from $1.90 to around $2.10 and has stayed in that tight range all through the first day. If Pakistan can make a decent start on the second day, look to back Australia at $2.80 or better.
Those who listened to me and took Pakistan at around $7 (and they peaked at $17 when Katich and Clarke were settled in) might have been able to lay them off at around $3 and be green-booked by now, which is fantastic this early in the match. They have settled in to $3.10 overnight and are probably worth laying at these prices.

Great concept, Murray - would love to read this every week! My two cents: 1. Will Majak Daw ever play a senior match for the Kangaroos? Yes, but only once...
It was, but so too was the endeavour. There were a lot of occasions where Melbourne players simply didn't go in to win the footy. That's inexcusable.
Re recruiting: I think the question is more interesting if it is asked the other way around... Would Nic Naitanui be as good if he taken at number 1? Michael...

Cheers Will, as always. I don't think Thompson is necessarily the best player in the competition. At present he is definately the most consistent. It was great watching him work...
