The job in the world with the shortest average tenure would have to be the Pakistan cricket captain. Three captains in three months - no wonder they are so inconsistent. This time at least they give the job to someone who has been a solid and regular performer, Salman Butt.

Headingley has been very good to batsmen this season, however, this will be tempered by overcast conditions and excellent swing bowling. There is also rain forecast on the second and third day.

Current market:

Pakistan: $8

Australia: $1.55

Draw: $3.25

The toss will be very important for punters. In the first Test, Pakistan sent Australia in, and did a great job of working through the middle order. This track may take spin as the match progresses, so whoever wins the toss may be more inclined to bat first.

If Australia bats first, we may well see a similar situation to the first Test, in which case lay Pakistan or back Australia if they collapse. If Pakistan bats first and suffer a collapse on the first day, they will blow out to around $25 or more, in which case they would be

great value as they are likely to narrow significantly when Australia bat.

No value in Australia at these levels. You might want to take a bit on Pakistan even now. The draw might be an interesting play depending on the weather. If you can lay the draw on the first day for $2.50 or better, that should put you in good stead.
