A few random musings on matters sporting...
- A great finish to the Victoria-NSW 2020 match on Saturday night, but for the life of me I can't seem to recall what Premier League club Victoria's newest cricket hero, Dwayne Bravo, plays for. Oh, that's right...
- Dwayne Smith's outfield catch was as good a grab as you'd see at the MCG - in summer or winter.
- Both the Boxing Day Test match and the Sydney-to-Hobart start amid a great deal of fanfare and in front of large crowds the day after Christmas. Yet the longer they go, the less people are watching.
- What happens if Phil Hughes steps in for Simon Katich and makes a ton?
- After all these years, the Hopman Cup still takes place at the Burswood Dome. What happened to the talk about tearing down the Dome and moving the tennis to another venue?
- Anyone care to guess when Pakistan will next play a Test match on home soil?
- No Australian Open on Fox Sports, if the Foxtel TV guide is correct. Will Seven split its coverage over its various digital channels to compensate? Or will we be subjected to one channel only with a steady diet of straight-set thrashings from centre court and a few plucky Australians from the outside courts. They might as well bring back Peter Landy and Gary Wilkinson if that's the case.
- Anyone ready for a footy fix is well advised to read Peter Ryan's Side By Side, a fly-on-the-wall account of Collingwood's 2009 campaign. One of the best footy books for quite some time.
- Ian Chappell missed the MCG Test because of a rotation arrangement among the Channel Nine commentary team. So when is it Tony Greig's turn?
- If results this weekend fall the right way, Brett Favre will face the Green Bay Packers in the opening weekend of the NFL playoffs. There might be no better sporting event in all of January anywhere in the world.
- Do they still play basketball in this country?

Great concept, Murray - would love to read this every week! My two cents: 1. Will Majak Daw ever play a senior match for the Kangaroos? Yes, but only once...
It was, but so too was the endeavour. There were a lot of occasions where Melbourne players simply didn't go in to win the footy. That's inexcusable.
