In Sydney, racing returns to Rosehill on Saturday as the countdown to the Epsom and Metropolitan Handicaps ramps up with a host of aspirants tackling the Kingston Town Stakes (2000M) and Sebring Sprint (1400M). Last week, the rain-soaked Randwick surface was better suited to mud wrestling than racing; however, with the forecast of fine weather, this Saturday's meet looks set to be run on a good track.

The Sebring Stakes (formerly the Theo Marks Stakes) has been renamed in honour of the 2008 Golden Slipper winner who now stands at Widden Stud and covered a whopping 190 mares in his debut season. It is very appropriate this race be run at the track where Sebring claimed his 2008 Golden Slipper victory and Widden Stud are delighted to have formed the sponsorship arrangement with the Sydney Turf Club.

Enough of the feel-good diatribe, The Racing Insider is about winners so let's tear the card to shreds.

Brilliant mare, MORE JOYOUS ($2.40), is certain to start a short priced favourite in the Sebring Stakes on the back of her slashing first-up victory in the Sheraco Stakes. A burden of 59kg was no trouble for her on that occasion; she was ridden confidently towards the tail of the field before quickly reeling in the leaders in the straight and winning with great authority. However, in spite of walking away with egg on my face after declaring her vulnerable first up, I am going to do it again this weekend. I prefer BRILLIANT LIGHT ($8), who was magnificent in the Autumn and looks very well weighted with 54.5kg, owing to the conditions of the race.

Peter Moody is taking his exciting staying prospect, TRIUMPHANT CHOICE ($8), across the Murray to tackle the Kingston Town Stakes in what looks a race in two with the bold, front-running gelding HERCULIAN PRINCE ($2.50). Herculian Prince is on the quick backup after racing wide last week, a ploy trainer Gai Waterhouse has used with great success over her long career. Corey Brown takes over from Glyn Schofield on Saturday and he will look to dictate the race from the front and should have plenty in the tank to bound away in the home straight.

The 1200M Research Stakes sees a large field greet the starting judge and should provide one of the most open markets on the card. The form guide reads poorly for TRIM, but her first-up run was far better than it appears on paper and she looks to be a mare with a bright future. Hopefully backmarkers are not disadvantaged, as Trim will settle at the rear of proceedings from the wide gate and with a strong tempo up front, she should get her chance in the home straight.

A crack field of 3YOs are set to do battle in the Heritage Stakes (1200M) headed by Hinchinbrook, Decision Time and brilliant debut winner, Halekulani.

However, it is one of only two fillies in the race, CLASSICS, which caught my eye with a brave fourth in the Run To The Rose. The race that day was dominated by horses that got off the fence whilst Classics fought on like Muhammad Ali on the worse going and did a great job to finish fourth. She should represent tremendous each-way value.

THE BANKER:

PURNESS in Race 2 will be short, but has shown brilliant ability in its wins to date and can more than measure up to Saturday grade. Looks an anchor in doubles and all-up bets.

MY BEST BETS:

HERCULIAN PRINCE, like our old mate Theseo last week, looks to get an absolute picnic at the head of proceedings in the Kingston Town Stakes and should prove too strong for the fast finishing Triumphant Choice over the concluding stages. Back Herculian Prince to win and play the multiples with Triumphant Choice as the other key runner.

BRILLIANT LIGHT on an each-way basis. Can either lead or sit behind More Joyous if she wants to roll forward and either way will be given his chance in the straight. In a race where I expect backmarkers to struggle to make up big ground, this horse looks a tremendous each way proposition.

TERRIFIC EACH WAY VALUE:

CLASSICS won't have to contend with the very speedy Squamosa to find the front in this race and she showed her ability to respond when under pressure last time out. She should be in the finish.

QUADDIE:

Leg 1 - Just the up and comers - 3 and 9.

Leg 2 - As well as the two I mentioned above I think DRUMBEATS and ROTHESAY have claims - 4,6,9 and 10

Leg 3 - Very very tough race - 2,4,5,6,11 and 14.

Leg 4 - Again, a tough finish - 4,5,8,10,12 and 16.
