So You Think he's a certainty?

Star four-year-old So You Think can join turf greats Northerly, Sunline and Tobin Bronze as a dual winner of the WS Cox Plate on Saturday. So You Think has already been rated one of Bart Cumming's best ever gallopers - a huge appraisal, given the master trainer's laundry list of past greats and considering Saturday's weight for age championship will be only his 10th race start.

So You Think also has the benefit of youth on his side, technically he won't turn four until November 11. If he is successful this weekend it will give him a real chance to match hall of fame incumbent Kingston Town's treble of Cox Plates.

The son of High Chaparral suggested an exciting career lay before him when winning his very first start at a rare Wednesday meeting at Rosehill in May 2009. His rise to greatness has been swift and frankly astonishing. Just eighteen months later he has won 3 Group 1's and looks set to add another Cox plate to his record and all this despite missing the Autumn of his three-year-old year.

When he lead all the way to win last year's Plate as a three-year-old most were stunned, this year, anything less than a repeat performance would be seen as a disappointment. His form this spring has been faultless. After a brilliant win, first up in the Memsie, he stepped up to the 1800 metres of the Underwood and again was dominant. But the best was yet to come with an outstanding performance to race away from his opposition in Caulfield's Yalumba Stakes at 2000 metres.

It is hard to see the horses that he has left in his wake turning the tables in the Cox Plate. Shoot Out has raced consistently this spring but perhaps Caulfield may have been the better option. Should he win though it would be the most emotional big race finish since Damien Oliver's Melbourne Cup win on Media Puzzle.

Whobegotyou loves Moonee Valley, but love alone may not be enough, he would have to find huge improvement after being heartbroken by So You Think in the Yalumba. Perhaps So You Think's greatest danger will be Sydney's star mare More Joyous.

Gai Waterhouse's super mare has been in sparkling form since winning the Sebring Sprint at Rosehill, first up this preparation. She has now put together 8 consecutive wins which compares favourably to Sunline's 8 in row and Surround's 10 on the trot.

One query for More Joyous will be the tight turning Moonee Valley track. She has been given the benefit of a reconnaissance mission to Moonee Valley but has yet to appear there under race conditions.

So You Think and More Joyous are two very different horses trained by two iconic trainers. It makes for a great showdown in the race where legends are made.
