It's day two of the Perth Festival of Racing on Saturday at Ascot and again it's a case of WA horses against the team from the eastern states in the Group One Railway Stakes.

In recent years, there has been an increase of horses running in the Railway from Victoria and New South Wales and that ended in success for Sniper's Bullet last year. However, that was the only interstate winner of the Railway since Better Loosen Up 21 years ago.

Before you jump down my throat, I'm well aware there hasn't been too many interstaters in the race over that period but I think it proves the point: it's an extremely hard task to travel to Perth and win.

This year's Railway Stakes favourite, Colour Correct, goes into the race after an impressive win in the Ascot Gold Cup a fortnight ago.

Father and son team of Ross and Clint Price train Colour Correct from their property at Capel, which is between Bunbury and Bussellton, on the beautiful west coast.

Ross Price told me Colour Correct is certainly a stronger and more mature horse since running third in the Railway last year and barrier 7 is a lot better than 17 where he started from previously.

Price is of the opinion Colour Correct is pretty short in the market for Saturday believing the quality of the local and interstate horses is very strong.

Price and the owners of Colour Correct have given jockey Paul Harvey permission to ride the horse half a kilogram over at 53kgs on Saturday.

MEGATIC is another of the locals out to claim the Railway Stakes and jockey Pat Carbery feels they can be in the finish.

Carbery says barrier 10 may prove ideal because normally in high pressure races like the Railway you can race three wide with cover and produce a strong finish.

Punters should be reminded that Megatic was flattened last start and is capable of bouncing back on Saturday. Another positive according to Carbery is the drop in weight saying Megatic isn't the biggest horse around. He is a $26 hope with TAB Sportsbet Fixed Odds.

PERTH trainer, Adam Durrant, captured the Colonel Reeves last Saturday and now he has his sights on the Railway with Inarticulate.

With his regular jockey, Clint Harvey, under suspension Alan Kennedy takes over the ride on Inarticulate and he already has won on the horse.

Durrant said the big plus for Inarticulate on Saturday is the drop of 6 kgs from his last start to 52kgs and in fact gets a 3 kg turnaround on favourite Colour Correct. Not only has Inarticulate got the ideal weight but Durrant says he's got great formlines around God Has Spoken, who won the Peters Stakes last weekend. There has been a nibble for him with TAB Sportsbet Fixed Odds, backed from $16 into $14.

OUTSIDE of the Group One action from Ascot, there's a lot of attention on Hong Kong racing this Sunday.

With the big International meeting coming up on December 12 all eyes will be on the Sprint and Mile Trials on Sunday. While Sacred Kingdom will be a short priced favourite in the Sprint Trial, the performance of Singapore star Rocket Man will be closely watched. Trainer Patrick Shaw is slightly cautious about Sunday, saying Rocket Man is facing his first start in the right hand direction but in saying that the gallop from the horse on Tuesday was very encouraging.

In the Mile Trial on Sunday, Viva Pataca resumes with a campaign that so far has been halted by niggling issues. Trainer John Moore is eyeing a clash with Americain in next month's Hong Kong Vase and the 1600 metre race on Sunday will hopefully see the star flashing home.
