The racing merry-go-round will turn to the yearling sales in Australia during the next few months and the procession of trainers and owners inspecting yearlings will start at the Magic Millions Gold Coast sale on Wednesday, January 12.

Magic Millions managing director, Stephen Silk, only has been in the job for seven weeks but it's been enough time for him to realise what the Magic Millions brand is all about.

Silk told me the seven-year agreement with Racing Queensland and Events Queensland has given Magic Millions the chance to really focus on the future at the Gold Coast. Silk said that the aim was to make the yearling sale and the race day, events that everyone wanted to attend.

Silk has great expertise in marketing, having spent six years with the VRC at Flemington and he's hoping to build the Magic Millions experience as a very special one throughout Australia.

With the Magic Millions Gold Coast catalogue out only last week, there's already a great deal of interest in the full brother to Stratum and the half-brother to More Joyous (pictured above, with Nash Rawiller aboard).

The final leg of the Festival of Perth Racing is on at Ascot on Saturday, with the Group One Kingston Town Classic.

Leading Perth trainer Neville Parnham is remarkably still chasing his first ever Group One success and he has two excellent chances. Playing God will no doubt start favourite following his brilliant win in last Saturday's Aquanita Stakes and Parnham doesn't have any concerns backing up, considering he drops to 52-kilos under the weight-for-age scale.

Parnham said barrier 8 was ideal for his son, Steve Parnham, to settle the horse midfield.

Playing God's brother, God has Spoken ($10 with TAB Sportsbet Fixed Odds) worked strongly on Tuesday but he'll need some luck from barrier 2.

Prominent WA owner, Bob Peters, has dual runners in the Kingston Town Classic and while both are being rated double-figure chances, don't rule out an upset.

Trainer Garth Williams says Ranger goes in a lot better than the Railway Stakes, when he was backing up from the Peters Stakes.

Williams was rapt when jockey Willie Pike stayed with Ranger saying he's a horse that does have a few traits and the Group One jock knows them. The stable-mate Tranquility has the fresh legs in the Kingston Town, according to Garth Williams and, from barrier 9, can be ridden anywhere. Tranquility is at $16 with TAB Sportsbet Fixed Odds.

At Eagle Farm, the $200,000 George Moore is the main highlight on Saturday. Track conditions might hold the key to the result but one thing is certain - Temple of Boom is ready to release.

Trainer Tony Gollan says the latest start Flemington winner appears to have coped with everything superbly since having arrived at home. Temple of Boom put in a first-class gallop on Tuesday and, with Corey Brown keen to maintain the ride, I think we can expect a bold showing.

Newcastle trainer Darren Smith will take on Temple of Boom in the George Moore with six-year-old, Welkom Gold. The plus for Welkom Gold is that he handles any sort of going and he's coming off two good runs at Rosehill. At the latest start, Welkom Gold got going early and held on bravely but Smith says the horse doesn't need to lead.

And finally, harness racing will have some great races at the weekend. Tonight at Tabcorp Park Melton, Melpark Major will contest the Group Three Popular Alm Free-for-All. And then on Saturday night, Bankstown is the venue for the Treuer Memorial, where Blacks A Fake needs to overcome a second-row draw.
