A full book of quality racing this weekend, so much so that it's hard to know where to start.

Caulfield offers the Group One Orr Stakes and the Blue Diamond Preludes. Randwick has the likes of More Joyous and Pressday in the Breeders and Royal Sovereign while the highly regarded Satin Shoes and Fast Shanti start their campaigns towards the Golden Slipper.

But while you'll hear plenty about those meetings, let's begin in New Zealand.

Te Rapa has the Group One Waikato DB Sprint where four or five runners will head towards Melbourne and Sydney over the next two months. Murray Baker is the co-trainer of the very classy filly, We Can Say It Now, who showed her brilliance to win ever so easily in November and December.

Baker though has a word of warning going into Saturday's race. He feels the 1200 metres might be a bit short for the filly who likes to get back off the pace. Te Rapa can also throw up a leaders track, so while We Can Say It Now is ready to resume, she'll have to produce another explosive finish to beat the strongest field she's ever meet.

Now to Caulfield and the Group One Orr Stakes. Personally I can't wait to see the return of 2009 Melbourne Cup winner Shocking. Trainer Mark Kavanagh has carefully plotted his path to this race and at the same time has convinced Corey Brown to give up many Sydney rides to reunited with Shocking.

Kavanagh told me this week that Shocking is quite forward for his return over 1400 metres and it won't be of any concern if the track is slightly rain affected. In the Spring, Shocking came off a spell to win the Makybe Diva Stakes on a heavy track.

Master of Design is the interesting runner in the Rubiton Stakes at Caulfield. Originally trained by Lee Freedman, the horse has found his way to Perth where Adam Durrant is attempting to weave some magic on a horse that has battled leg injuries. A son of Redoute's Choice, Master of Design has only graced the racetrack nine times but has produced four wins.

Cranbourne trainer Wendy Kelly is hoping the Spring form of her two-year-old, Arctic Command, can flow in to Saturday's Blue Diamond Prelude. Winner of the Maribyrnong Plate at Flemington over Melbourne Cup week, Arctic Command trialled superbly a fortnight ago according to Kelly who says the youngster has always shown a great deal.

Saturday's Widden Stakes at Randwick will see the clash of Satin Shoes and Flash Shanti but don't rule out the Queenslander Merryanna. Trainer Maryanne Thexton is thrilled with the way Merryanna has trained since sweeping to a blistering victory on Australia Day.

Friday's Moonee Valley meeting will see Mick Kent's impressive debut winner Ra Ikane line up in a 955 metre race. While Kent is keen to let the horse do the talking, it's hard not be impressed by Ra Ikane's win at Cranbourne when he simply left his rivals standing.
