There's no doubting that harness and greyhound racing will command centre stage in Sydney this weekend.

Tabcorp Park Menangle is the stage for the finals of the Breeders Challenge on Sunday while on Saturday night, Wentworth Park has the final of the Peter Mosman Classic.

At Wenty Park, Victorian greyhound Kilty Lad is attempting to win his third Group One race after successes in the Silver Chief and Adelaide Cup.

Trainer Kelly Bravo says Kilty Lad has the big time experience and that could go a long way to determining another win.

Kilty Lad has quickly built an impressive record at Wentworth Park and many experts feel box six will be perfect.

Drawn to the inside of Kilty Lad is Adam Meway and his box manners are crucial.

At his recent starts, Adam Meway has been very keen to get to the inside.

If that happens in the Mosman final, it certainly opens the door for Kilty Lad and Loathsome (eight) to gain an early break.

IN harness racing, the rich and successful NSW Breeders Challenge series comes to a grand finale.

Many within the code feel that the clash of Sushi Sushi and Excel Stride promises to be one of the great races of the year.

Sushi Sushi has won nine in a row, including the Victoria and Great Northern Derbies, while Excel Stride has amassed seven straight wins.

The barrier draw, though, spoilt the party early in the week with Sushi Sushi drawing four and Excel Stride outside the front row.

However, as the week's gone on, many harness followers feel they wouldn't be surprised if Greg Bennett takes the initiative and surges Excel Stride out quickly from the barrier.

From there, the fight would be on. The appearance of Vertigal in the 3YO Fillies Final is another highlight and should easily account for her rivals.

NOW to Saturday's thoroughbred action and the Sky Racing Tattersall's Tiara at Eagle Farm is the final Group One of the season.

Peter Snowden reports Beaded has done everything right since the Stradbroke and a victory would give Corey Brown seven Group Ones for the season, matching Luke Nolen.

Another Sydney mare, Hurtle Myrtle, has been set for the Tiara for many weeks and trainer Matthew Smith reports there will be no excuses.

The key to Hurtle Myrtle's chances was a good barrier and, from six, Brenton Avdulla should be able to position her similarly to the Dane Ripper.

THERE'S two important gear additions for Saturday at Eagle Farm.

Yosei will wear blinkers in the Tiara as trainer Stuart Webb attempts to turn around the fortunes of the dual Group One winner.

Michelle Payne said on Tuesday, the blinkers hopefully will encourage Yosei to jump better.

That's also the hope with Buffering in the Healy Stakes.

Winkers will go on Buffering as he comes back to the suitable 1200 metres after a gutsy fourth in the Stradbroke.

TRAINER Anthony Cummings has sent his two-year-old, Strike the Stars, to Eagle Farm following an impressive debut performance behind Startreusse a fortnight ago.

Strike The Stars had a strong gallop on Tuesday morning before floating up to Brisbane and jockey Tim Clark felt the horse had learnt a lot from his race experience.

And finally, a word of warning from Mark Kavanagh regarding Shadowfax at Flemington.

Kav feels Shadowfax is weighted right up to his best and to carry 57.5 kilograms, he'll need a soft ride from Michael Rodd.

Stablemate Elusive Touch will relish another straight race and following two jump outs certainly can collect the cash.
