With the next group of international horses expected to fly in on Saturday, Hong Kong trainer John Moore is already in Melbourne with fingers crossed that his pair of spring candidates produce top form at Caulfield.

Mighty High will tackle a 1700-metre race, hopefully on the way to the Caulfield Cup.

Moore said he was happy enough with the winner of the Champions and Charter Cup but feels the Caulfield Cup preparation may be a bit rushed given that Saturday's race is Mighty High's first since May.

The grey has been impressing track watchers at the Werribee quarantine base and has drawn to get a cuddled run from jockey Darren Beadman.

THE training partnership between Colin Alderson and his daughter Cindy has proven to be one of the great initiatives in Australian racing in recent years.

Cindy has done a great job developing her skills and the stable has never gone any better.

On Saturday at Caulfield, That's The One lines up in the Guineas Prelude and, while the three-year-old hasn't raced for a few weeks, don't be concerned.

Cindy told me That's The One was very fit and appreciated a look around Caulfield about 10 days ago.

While that workout was wide out on the track, Alderson felt it was a big plus that the horse had been to Caulfield.

Chosen To Fly also lines up at Caulfield after a great latest start third to Atomic Force when he was only beaten a length-and-a-half.

Alderson said while it was a step up in class for Chosen To Fly, barrier eight would suit the big-striding horse.

JOCKEY Steven Arnold is looking forward to Caulfield despite only having a light book of rides.

The key mount is Kneeling in the second race but the task may be extremely tough against the highly-regarded Atlantic Jewel.

Arnold had his only previous ride on Kneeling last Tuesday and the talented hoop realised immediately that the filly had a stack of potential.

Arnold felt Kneeling displayed a good turn of speed even in trackwork and gets all of the favours with an inside barrier up against Atlantic Jewel out in barrier 10.

THERE are a few trainers hoping that the forecast showers for Saturday don't reach Rosehill.

It's hard to overlook the confidence of trainer Brett Partelle with Torio's Quest.

The horse ran a super race first-up and his trackwork since has done nothing to dent Partelle's high spirits.

As we know, Torio's Quest has a liking for a firm track, so no substantial rain fall is desired.

Hugh Bowman also spent the week on a fresh air diet as he wastes to take the prime ride at 54 kilograms in the Shannon Stakes.

Another trainer looking skywards is David Van Dyke.

Lamasery contests the Group Three Colin Stephens following a strong second-up win a fortnight ago.

Van Dyke said it took Lamasery a few days to get over that victory but he is now back to normal. Still a good track is required for him to do his best.

On breeding, Lamasery should battle to race beyond a mile but Van Dyke has no doubt the horse will be able to back up after this Saturday and contest the 2400 metre Metropolitan.
