What a terrific week we've had so far at Flemington but with Black Caviar gracing the track in the Patinack Farm Classic, the best is to come.

Trainer Peter Moody has been happy enough to let others steal the spotlight over the first three days but going by his reports the unbeaten mare hasn't missed a beat.

With Black Caviar chasing her 16th straight win, Perth Racing officials will be anxious more than anyone.

In recent years, the Winterbottom Stakes at Ascot has evolved into one of the strongest sprint races in the country.

It now has been elevated to Group One status and that hopefully will be the magnet for Black Caviar to tackle the best on November 19.

Moody will wait to see how Black Caviar performs in the Patinack on Saturday and how she recovers before committing to a Perth trip.

THERE are four Cox Plate runners lining up in Saturday's Group One Emirates Stakes at Flemington.

While all trainers are happy with their runners, the question has to be asked whether horses can compete successfully at 1600 metres after a tough 2040-metre Cox Plate?

Kiwi trainer, John Bary, gave Jimmy Choux a few days off after the Cox Plate but his work on Tuesday was perfect, according to his regular trackwork rider.

Bary says Jimmy Choux plans to stalk the other Emirates runners rather being stalked.

Fellow Kiwi runner Wall Street missed out on running in the Mackinnon Stakes because of a slight bout of colic but has recovered fully for Saturday.

Trainer Jeff Lynds said Wall Street hasn't missed any work and appears to be in similar form to 12 months ago when he won a thrilling Emirates.

Caulfield trainer Mick Price is well aware that the task of winning the Emirates with Testa My Patience will be extremely tough but there's no better horse in the race on current form.

The racing pattern of Flemington will be crucial to the chances of Testa My Patience.

The horse has drawn barrier three, with Price hoping the inside ground isn't too bad, after three days of racing.

Testa My Patience worked impressively on Tuesday and has the same weight as he carried in his Crystal Mile win at Moonee Valley.

THE Maribyrnong Plate at Flemington will have a large number of youngsters on debut.

Patinack Farm has three runners in the race.

Trophies will wear blinkers for the first time after a fast-finishing debut run.

Trainer John Thompson feels the gear change will aid him to handle the straight race without any concerns.

The interesting runner is Churchill. The horse has had no official trials, however, the son of Shamardal has had a jump out at Flemington and seemed to do everything right.

THE Terang Cup form is holding up strongly this week at Flemington.

Already we've had Norsqui win on Cup day over Excluded after they had finished sixth and second respectively at Terang.

Another that could add to these statistics is Texan Warney in race three at Flemington.

Trainer Darryl Dodson says Texan Warney has learnt to settle a lot better in his races and because of that is racing more consistently.

Barrier 11 also suits the horse because he appreciates clear galloping room.

AND finally in harness racing, Saturday night's Newcastle Mile should be full of fireworks.

Mr Feelgood is expected to start favourite after recent runs in Brisbane but with the likes of defending champion Rohan Home, Washakie and Karloo Mick it won't be a walk in the park. The race starts at 9.17pm.
