LET'S go off big with a quartet of non-city winners this edition, kicking off with unbeaten INABLITZ (four-year-old mare by Testa Rossa - Queen Kahuna, by Rustic Amber).

Trained by Mick Price, this mare has twice quickened impressively over 1100m to score at Kyneton and Bendigo.

Her response under the whip at Bendigo was instantaneous and she's far from a speedy squib. More ground won't be a concern.

KING OF MOUNTAINS (three-year-old gelding by Fastnet Rock - Tristachine, by Sir Tristram) broke through for his first win in three runs at that Bendigo fixture, scoring over 1600m.

Backers had a few anxious moments when the strapping bay floundered early in the stretch, yet he suddenly overwhelmed 10 rivals to zoom clear.

Fastnet Rock has served big books of mares so there's no shortage of his offspring but he can sure generate an impressive prospect.

Another stallion powering along is Lonhro and we have two daughters to mention, kicking off with CLASSIC GUITAR (three-year-old filly by Lonhro - Hot Riff, by Palace Music).

Peter Snowden took a small band to Muswellbrook on March 19 and this miss annihilated the opposition upon debut, putting five lengths between herself and the runner-up.

We've previously mentioned JEREZANA (three-year-old filly by Lonhro - Hot Riff, by Palace Music) and let's go again following her superb return at Kembla on March 21.

Snowden had cranked the four-race veteran up with a beaut Randwick barrier trial and the bay ran straight back into winning form with a last to first 1200m victory.

Not many fillies have impressed as much as this miss in recent weeks on the NSW provincial circuit - she may well be up to stakes grade as these Lonhros certainly develop with racing and experience.

And a wide barrier cruelled Chris Waller's first-time runner SUMMER DASH (three-year-old colt by Sharmadal - Elegy, by Diesis) at Newcastle last Saturday.

He's a big, masculine individual also boasting solid barrier trial credentials with two Rosehill placings.

Alas, Summer Dash raced wide from his extreme outside marble (14) and was entitled to curl up. Instead, the promising youngster closed relentlessly in a tip-top debut.

(A couple of selections from my Five to Follow column of last week - which unfortunately did not appear on BPL due to a production glitch - are running at the weekend. TOM'S EIGHTH is being saddled up on Sunday at Sha Tin in Hong Kong (Race 5, No. 2), while TRILIONE will be running at Rosehill on Saturday (Race 8, No.10). I should add that two other horses I mentioned in last week's column have also started since then: JEREZANA ran on March 21 and won at Kembla Grange, while MELPOMENE finished third at Warwick Farm on 24 March.)

Tony Brassel is senior form analyst with Sky Racing.
