Lee Freedman has been carving a swathe with European imports lately and there's another one gearing up to handle the local contingent in Sydney.

DOCTOR FREMANTLE (five-year-old horse by Sadler's Wells - Summer Breeze, by Rainbow Quest) made his Aussie debut with a sixth to Lord Tavistock in the Blamey Stakes, but boy, did he trial well at Warwick Farm last week.

After missing the start in a 1200m heat, the entire trailed the field before rocketing all over the top of Rangirangdoo. Kerrin McEvoy had a stranglehold on him passing the wire.

Fourth in the 2008 Epsom Derby and already a Group 2 winner, The Doctor is down to run at Randwick next week.

Also staging a last to first performance in a barrier trial was SEEYATOMORO (three-year-old filly by Testa Rossa - Thunderstick, by Umatilla), most impressive at Morphettville on Monday.

This filly had been a late scratching last Saturday and was forced to trial. Her performance to clock the fastest figure of the session was tops.

Still, she will need to stage a last to first form reversal after being rolled first up at Balaklava on March 31.

Robert Smerdon is never short of talent and his gelding LOCKHART ROAD (four-year-old gelding by Faltaat - Arousing, by Kashani) is a surefire city prospect.

Spelled after winning at Cranbourne last August, the bay kicked straight into gear with a 1000m romp at Bendigo on April 8.

He's even better placed over more ground as the preparation unfolds, and there's no finer placer of horses than his trainer.

It was cruel to see the talented first-starter ELEGANT TRIUMPH (two-year-old colt by God's Own - Oubladee, by Sir Laurence) meet defeat at Canterbury's final night meeting for the season.

A brilliant barrier trial winner, he again accelerated like something special on racenight, except the leaders were too far ahead.

Elegant Triumph operates out of Gerald Ryan's always-in-form camp and the leggy bay will make amends very quickly.

And across the Tasman, there was no more impressive winner this week than CAROLINA BELLA (three-year-old filly by Zabeel - Wyndam Special, by Centaine).

From the Baker operation at Cambridge, this blue blood managed to put 8.3 lengths between herself and the opposition in a 1600m Otaki maiden.

Opie Bosson still hasn't moved on the blueblood!

(In my Five to Follow column of last week, one of the horses I wrote about, TANALISED, will run on Saturday at Ellerslie in New Zealand - Race 9, No 3. From my column of March 31, two of those horses ran this week - EL SPARK on Wednesday at Sandown and finished 7th; NO COMMENT on Friday at Wyong and finished 2nd - while a third, PARABLES, is running on Saturday at Randwick - Race 2, No 4.

Tony Brassel is senior form analyst with Sky Racing.
