Meet Brock Lesnar - the baddest man on the planet.
At 192cm and 122kg, the American goliath is now the undisputed star - and poster boy - of the UFC franchise.
This weekend, he headlines UFC 121 in Anaheim California. He's the current heavyweight champion and is up against the No.1 contender in Cain Velasquez in a bout that should have UFC fans salivating.
As UFC President Dana White stated this week at a press Conference in downtown L.A. ''There is no doubt that Brock is the biggest,'' Dana said before clarifying that. ''Georges St Pierre is close behind but at the moment it's definitely Brock taking us forward.''
Taking them forward is definitely right with the Pay-per-view buy rates for Lesnar's past two fights both exceeding a million buys. UFC 100 broke 1.5 million whilst UFC 116 was close behind with 1.2 million.
These figures are staggering considering UFC 115 had a little over half a million buys. That is an increase of over 100 per cent and with each PPV costing around $50 it is easy to see why Lesnar is the face of the UFC.
Lesnar is the quint essential all American country boy who grew up on a farm in Minnesota before accepting a wrestling scholarship to the University of Minnesota.
He is an intensely private man who keeps his family life separate from the glaring lens of today's media. Refusing to feed the insatiable appetite of the press he prefers to spend time in the foothills of Minnesota working on his farm.
The enjoyment for the ‘simple life' was overwhelmingly clear when Lesnar spoke to ESPN's Jim Rome recently.
"It's very basic for me," Lesnar said of his day-to-day life. "When I go home, I don't buy into any of the b.s. Like I said, it's pretty basic: Train, sleep, family, fight. It's my life. I like it."
Lesnar told Rome that he doesn't like the spotlight and instead enjoys the things that are important to him.
"I just don't put myself out there to the fans and prostitute my private life to everybody," he said. "In today's day and age, with the Internet and cameras and cell phones, I just like being old school and living in the woods and living my life. I came from nothing and at any moment, you can go back to having nothing."
Lesnar however allowed unprecedented access to his training camp in the weeks leading up to this weekend's fight. A three-part primetime series which aired on the American cable network Spike was shot during his camp and showed the former NCAA wrestling champion at his rawest. In the past these specials have been reserved for major fights and this time around there is no difference.
Lesnar's work ethic is shown in all its glory throughout the series with excruciating workouts taking place and weight training sessions highlighting his impressive physique. Despite his massive size, he is definitely the most athletically gifted and agile heavyweight in the world.
He is a freak of nature in every sense of the word with his speed and agility almost unknown in a man his size. His physique is enough to get people to tune into his fights let alone his All-American wrestling ability combined with striking skills.
All three episodes have focused on each fighters training regimes with access to their training camps giving the audience a behind the scenes look into each fighters lives.
Velasquez's Latino heritage has been heavily alluded to throughout the show but has stopped short of creating a U.S.A verses Mexico battle. Velasquez is clearly proud of his Mexican heritage as highlighted by the ‘Brown Pride' tattoo scrawled across his chest.
If successful the San Jose native will become the first Mexican Heavyweight champion in any combat sport, which is remarkable considering the countries rich heritage in boxing.
Velasquez however is no David in this Goliath battle with the American Kickboxing Academy fighter currently undefeated in his MMA career with eight wins.
Velasquez's Jiu-Jitsu coach Dave Camarillo said this week that he is highly impressed with his fighter's preparation. "His stand-up has improved every week of the camp, his Jiu-Jitsu is improving every day and his cardio is second to none."
At this morning weigh-ins Valasquez tipped the scales at 145 pounds, almost 20 pounds lighter than Lesnar who only had to cut four pounds to reach his weight of 164.
With only 24 hours to go before the fight Lesnar is feeling confident about this weekend's prospects and stated during Wednesday's primetime episode that he is extremely calm.
"Things are winding down now; it's kind of the calm before the storm. I can't get in any better shape than what I am in and we've gone over a lot of things. The camp has gone really well and I'm just excited, I believe I'm very prepared. I'm calm and I feel really good about the whole situation."
Velasquez on the other hand is determined to leave the Honda Centre in Anaheim California the new UFC Heavyweight champion. "I'm going to take his belt come Saturday," Velasquez asserted before saying, "It is going to be a war, that's what I expect from him and he better expect that from me."
In somewhat of a response Lesnar looked at his scruffy beard in the mirror and remarked, "I'm a Viking warrior, a modern day gladiator preparing for battle and I'm ready for war."
The rest of the card is stacked with every fight on the main card containing a fighter who has either won a UFC championship or fought in a title fight.
The exception of course is Jake Shields who debuts inside the Octagon as the current Strikeforce middleweight champion. His acquisition is the biggest coup of the year, effectively stripping the UFC's main competitor of a title holder.
All five fights on the main card are tantalising prospects which will have even the most novice MMA fans licking their lips. At least threeof the fights could headline the event thus highlighting the depth the UFC has at the moment.
Jake Shields takes on Martin Kampmann in the Welterweight division with a victory set to earn Shields a title shot.
Diego ‘the nightmare' Sanchez will go toe-to-toe with Brazilian Jiu-jistu ace Paulo Thiago in what is certain to be a fight of the night contender.
Tito Ortiz makes his long awaited return from injury to take on former training partner Matt Hamil in a fight that has the Huntington Beach Bad Boy's career on the line.
In the Heavyweight division Gabriele Gonzaga will attempt to knock out Brandon Schaub in what promises to be a stand up clinic.
The last word however goes to the UFC President Dana White who was unable to pick a winner at yesterday's Press Conference. "This is a real heavyweight fight between two bad dudes. Raw power versus speed and roundedness. People ask me for my opinion on who will win this fight, and I genuinely have no clue," said White.
One thing is for sure UFC 121 is set to be an absolute barnstormer that could have the MMA world talking for a long time.
