Few believe Pim Verbeek will suddenly - on the eve of the biggest stage of his nomadic coaching career - be having second thoughts. A starting 11 set in granite, and a system of play as rigid as his personality. But there have been signs, albeit small ones, that Verbeek may at last be broadening his views. Good heavens, there was even a glimpse of a 4-4-2 against the United States last weekend.
