The night that every Melbourne Heart fan has been waiting for has arrived; our first three points are only a few hours away! Let's be honest, Adelaide United are the Australian national team of the A-League; they lack talent up front, at least one holding midfielder is a certainty, star players are always on the sidelines and their hopes of gaining a result rest with the man between the sticks. That being said Eugene Galekovic is a brilliant shot-stopper, however he will have his work cut out for him tonight!

It has been a huge week in Australian soccer; from the Harry Kewell- Robbie Slater slanging match to our cross-town rivals finally securing a marquee signature, just a shame no-one has heard of him. Ricardinho signs from Korean also-rans Jeju United, and brings to the Victory pace, agility and an eye for goal, much the same as Archie, Kruse and Mate Dugandzic. A little variation please Ernie, we would hate to see a sense of predictability slip into your play!

As for the Harry and Robbie saga, it has A-League implications as the mastermind that brought the Heart's downfall in Round One, Graham Arnold, is said to be the informant regarding who told Harry ‘where to go'. Some advice for the Mariners players; it would be best to tow the line behind your manager; evidently he doesn't care for individuals or ‘mutineers' such as one H.Kewell.

But back to the matter at hand, the trip to Hindmarsh is never an easy one; however the stats show the Reds haven't beaten a Melbourne side in the A-League since 2007, whilst losing their last three of these clashes at home. This stat, albeit regarding the other Melbourne side, will doubtlessly have caused the handful of remaining fit Reds players' sleepless nights this week. This poor record against Melbourne sides is not the only stat weighing against an Adelaide United victory at Hindmarsh tonight;

1. In Gerald Sibon's last season in the Eredivisie for Heerenveen he averaged a goal in every 1.8 games. We have played two games, and Gerald hasn't scored. Simple mathematics suggests that either he will score tonight against the Reds, or run riot in the subsequent clash next week against the Glory.

2. Adelaide United has only scored one goal for the season, much like the Heart, and their goal came from an extremely poor defensive performance at a set piece. The Melbourne Heart has conceded a poor goal from a set-piece this season but since then our defending in such situations has looked assured. With Sergio van Dijk under an injury cloud for tonight's game, the avenues to goal for the Reds are diminishing by the week!

3. The Heart are sitting one place above our across town rival on the table, and there is no way we will relinquish this position after just one week! Look out Adelaide, the football is starting to flow and with that the goals will come, expect an avalanche to hit the back of the Eugene's net at Hindmarsh this evening!
