Manchester United sealed their spot in the last 16 with a win at Ibrox that ended Rangers' hopes, while Tottenham also moved through.
Both Premier League sides went into Wednesday's fixtures knowing they had an excellent chance to qualify with a game to spare and they made no mistake as Manchester United overcame Rangers' 1-0 and Tottenham swept aside Werder Bremen 3-1.
