Though it was mildly shocking in south-east London to learn that Roger Federer does have sweat-glands, that he does have a use for the towels during the changeovers, there was nothing surprising about the way he struck the ball to defeat Rafael Nadal in the O2 Arena to win yet another trophy at a season-ending championship.
All week, Federer has been striking almost everything from the middle of his strings, and he ripped through the deciding set against the Majorcan to become only the third man, joining Pete Sampras and Ivan Lendl, to win this event five times.
