Ogilvy clinches first Australian Open

Ogilvy fired his fourth consecutive sub-70 round to blitz the Australian Open field by four shots and record the second lowest total in the event's 106-year history. Only South African great Gary Player's 24-under total at Kooyonga in 1965 surpassed Ogilvy's 19 under after dazzling rounds of 68-65-67-69. He also joined legends Jack Nicklaus (1964), Greg Norman (1980) and major winner Steve Elkington (1992) as Open winners at The Lakes in his second big Australian victory after the 2008 PGA Championship. And while the Victorian - arguably the best player but definitely the most prolific winner of his talented generation - was clearly moved to get his hands on the Stonehaven Cup, he wouldn't be drawn into how many he'd have to win to stand tall among such names.
