It's a Steelers-Packers Super Bowl

Throughout this season, the Jets reinforced their status as the most talkative team in football, a boastful bunch who, with a series of last-second victories, backed up their big talk.

The Jets wasted a critical opportunity to score when LaDainian Tomlinson was stopped on fourth-and-goal in the fourth quarter. They got a safety on the next play, but the 5-point swing was costly.

Yet as the A.F.C. championship game against Pittsburgh approached, the Jets went atypically silent. When they did talk, they lobbed compliments at the Steelers instead of insults. Perhaps they chose the wrong approach.

The same week the Jets ended their steady stream of trash talk, their season ended, too. It ended on Sunday at Heinz Field, where yellow towels twirled, where black-and-gold confetti fluttered in the air, where the Steelers booked a trip to Super Bowl XLV with a 24-19 triumph.
