THE triple-header round-robin for round one of the NAB Cup appears likely to become a permanent first-week event with the AFL yesterday enthusiastic about the response to the quirky format.
The league's football operations boss Adrian Anderson said strong crowds - 40,300 attended Etihad Stadium on Saturday night and the three games were matched by strong television ratings - suggested the format had been well supported and the league liked the structure.
''We thought the format worked well. Attendances were up, TV ratings were up - 760,000 people watched the Collingwood-Richmond game on Saturday night,'' Anderson said.
