Real Madrid CF are in the UEFA Champions League quarter-final draw for the first time in seven years after goals from Marcelo, Karim Benzema and Ãngel di MarÃa eased the nine-time winners past Olympique Lyonnais.
After six seasons of disappointments at this stage of European club football's elite competition - the last of which came against these opponents a year ago - the hosts could have been forgiven for suffering a few pre-match nerves.
However, as soon as Marcelo had put them in front with an exquisite solo opener late in the first half, there were few doubts José Mourinho's side would falter. Benzema slipped in a second in consecutive games against his former employers after the break, while DÃ MarÃa made things safe with a chipped third soon after.
