Germany's Sebastian Vettel, the reigning drivers' champion, was noticeably quicker at last month's opening race in Melbourne, but Mark Webber is confident his problems have been fixed and he will be more competitive this weekend.
"There were a few issues we found post-race which certainly did not help the situation," he said.
"We are not going to go into it too much further than that. We will do a better job this weekend, get more out of the car and hang out at the front like we normally have been."
Webber added that he had shrugged off the disappointment of his home Grand Prix, where despite high hopes he came in fifth.
"I am not going to make a meal of what happened in Melbourne, so let's talk about Malaysia," he said.
