One of the game's best-known characters, Davis will be missed by fans all over the country but particularly in Geelong where he was an icon of the club and a hero of the town.
A member of Geelong's 1951-52 premiership sides, Davis coached the Cats to a flag in 1963 before becoming a household name on television and radio. With sidekicks Lou Richards and Jack Dyer, Davis appeared on the long-running League Teams every Thursday night on Channel Seven.
