It took most of the evening Wednesday to find it, but the Heat reclaimed its identity and claimed a huge victory, rolling over the Chicago Bulls, 85-75, at the United Center to steal homecourt advantage.
The Heat takes a 1-1 split back to Miami, where the series resumes — after an extended break — on Sunday.
LeBron James broke through the Bulls' swarming defense to score 29 points, including 9 of the Heat's last 12 points as Miami pulled away. He also finished with 10 rebounds and 5 assists.
"We were able to play more to our identity," Spoelstra said. "We're an aggressive, physical team."
Dwyane Wade added 24 points and 9 rebounds and weathered another close encounter with a Bulls big man. On Sunday, Wade was dunked on by Taj Gibson. This time, he was blocked on a dunk attempt by Omer Asik in the fourth quarter, with the game tied at 73-73. Miami outscored the Bulls, 12-2, the rest of the way.
