New South Wales fullback Josh Dugan made an impressive debut for the Blues, but Queensland custodian Billy Slater showed he is still the man.
Slater scored the winning try in the Maroons' pulsating 16-12 win at Suncorp Stadium.
Skipper Darren Lockyer, in his final series for the Maroons, fittingly delivered the crucial pass for the try which broke the hearts of the gallant New South Welshmen.
