Cats midfielder Joel Selwood will miss four matches after failing to have a level five striking charge downgraded at the AFL tribunal on Tuesday night.
Selwood was offered a three-match suspension by the AFL's match review panel on Monday after an incident involving Hawks' hard man Brent Guerra during the final quarter of Geelong's dramatic five-point win on Saturday night.
Although footage of the incident appeared grainy and inconclusive, the MRP used a damning medical report from the Hawks to cite 23-year-old Selwood, after Guerra was left with a perforated ear drum.
