Franklin was booked for making high contact with Weller during the third quarter of Saturday's 71-point win over the Suns at Aurora Stadium.
The current front-runner in the race for the Coleman Medal, Franklin appeared to make contact with his elbow to Weller's head.

Based on the video evidence available and a medical report from Gold Coast, the incident was assessed as reckless, low impact and high contact.

Franklin's poor recent record of four matches suspended within the last three years increased his initial penalty by 40 per cent to 175 demerit points.
