When Chris Evert called for the next generation of women to bring down the reign of the Williams sisters, she probably didn't have Kimiko Date-Krumm in mind.
At 40 years and 267 days old, Date-Krumm is what statisticians call an outlier (not to mention a testament to the health-giving qualities of sushi and green tea). Her first appearance at Wimbledon came all the way back in 1989, which was before 36 members of this year's ladies' draw had even been born.
