NBA sacks 114 employees The sacked employees represent about 11 per cent of the league office workforce in New York, New Jersey and internationally.
Spokesman Mike Bass said the layoffs were not a direct result of the lockout, but a response to the same underlying issue: the league's expenses far outpacing revenues.
''The roughly 11 per cent reduction in headcount ... is part of larger cost-cutting measures to reduce our costs by $US50 million ($A46.5 million) across all areas,'' Bass said.
