Arsenal last night claimed they had secured a €40m [£35m] deal for Cesc Fabregas on their terms as the player's transfer to Barcelona was finally agreed between the two clubs.
Sources at the club said they were satisfied that chief executive Ivan Gazidis had obtained the terms the club had demanded throughout the endgame to the negotiations. Although £35m fell short of the original £40m valuation of the player, Fagregas will have a medical today and is expected to be presented as a Barcelona player at the Nou Camp this afternoon.
